FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is the commitment involved for volunteering?

Volunteering at our MOPS Sale is a 3 or more hour commitment. You can volunteer either the Friday before the Sale or the day of the Sale. There are also Tag Tally positions that allow you to volunteer one of two evenings after the Sale. Volunteering in Publicity, Donations, or Administration is more flexible for your schedule, but you will still be busy with 3-hours’ worth of work (still fun though!). You may also choose the Hospitality position, which allows you to purchase approximately $30 worth of assigned food items to be dropped off at the sale on Friday between 4:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

What if I am a Consignor AND I am volunteering on Friday?

If you a Consignor AND volunteering on Friday, please plan your time accordingly! You will not be able to drop off your items during your shift. If you are working Friday Set-Up (3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.), you must drop off your items after your shift. If you are working Friday Drop-Off or Quality Control (5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.), you must either drop-off your items the half hour before your shift or arrange for a friend or family member to drop-off your items for you. Please allow AMPLE time to park and get your items on the floor. If you are not consigning, aim to arrive at the sale by 4:45 p.m. to allow plenty of time to park before your shift starts.

Please check in twice - once as a consignor and once as a volunteer. Drop-off volunteers must consign their items first prior to checking in as a volunteer at the beginning of their shift. If you are serving on Friday Rack Move or Set-Up, you check-in as a volunteer first, then come back at the end of your shift to check-in as a consignor.

What if I am pregnant or prefer to be fairly stationary during my shift?

Consider these positions on the day of the sale: Volunteer Check-In, Small Item Hold Bay, Cashier, Tagger, or Tag Sorter. If you have a newborn, you might also consider the position of Tag Sorter. If you are pregnant, we do not recommend that you sign up for Set-Up or Clean-Up. Please clearly inform the Registration Coordinator when you sign up for your shift if you have this need.

Can my husband serve my shift for me?

Yes! We are always looking for men to help with any of the shifts, especially Rack Move, Set-Up, and Clean-Up. You can simply register your husband in the Registration page and you still have the benefit of shopping the pre-sale. However, only one person can shop the pre-sale per volunteer. Both you and your husband cannot shop the pre-sale unless both of you serve a volunteer shift.

Can I bring children with me during my shift?

We ask that you leave young children at home. Infants that can remain in a soft carrier are welcome, but please let the Registration Coordinator know. Young teens (and older) have helped out at our sale to earn volunteer hours for their school. These teens can help with tagging and general help on the floor. If you are interested in bringing a teen with you, please let us know.

What if I find out last minute I cannot work my volunteer shift?

We understand that emergencies happen, but please take your commitment seriously. The success of our sale depends on our volunteers! Please do your best to give us two weeks’ notice if you need to cancel your volunteer shift. You must contact the Sale Coordinator at sale@cfcmops.com. If you are not able to complete a shift, you will not be eligible to shop the pre-sale and you will receive only 50% of the price of your sold items. Please contact your Shift Leader or Consignment Coordinator if you have any questions about this process.
